Drink
plenty of water - Travel and
outdoor activities can quickly dehydrate the body, so drinking water is
essential to keep the body’s organs functioning optimally. Drinking 6-8
glasses a day is recommended.
Use
skin moisturizers - Protect
your skin by using a moisturizer to seal moisture in. You can use a household
basic like vaseline petroleum jelly to form a barrier between your skin and the
elements.
Wear
sunscreen - Use sunscreen on
exposed skin especially at high altitudes. Don't forget to protect your lips
too!
Wear
sunglasses - The glare of
the sun causes an increased threat to the eyes, so choose sunglasses that block
100% of UV rays and wear them at all times.
Reduce
the number of warm baths - Hot water strips skin of natural
oils and can be extremely drying to the skin, so limit the number of hot baths
and showers you take.
Wear
breathable fabrics - Look for
fabrics that "breathe" to help keep sweat and moisture away from skin,
since 90% of the clothes insulating effectiveness is lost when clothes get wet.
