Before
washing your hair massage your scalp and brush your hair. After the hair is
thoroughly wet (lukewarm water) squirt a dot of shampoo about the size of a
quarter into the hand. Rub the hands together and start washing first underneath
the hair at the nape of the neck, then behind the ears and finally at the back
of the head.
Do a short rinse, then
squirt another quarter size blob of shampoo into the hands. After rubbing them
together wash the rest of the scalp starting on top of the ears, back of the
head and then the crown. Do another short rinse, then the blob thing and
starting at the back of the head wash the length. Since the shampoo has been
"rinsed" through the length you don't have to do the length in two
sections. Then rinse it thoroughly using lukewarm water.
Apply
conditioner, again in stages starting from the ends up but concentrating on the
ends. Bottom half of the length, top half of the length, back of head and the
crown. Then lightly coil the hair and spear it into place with a hair stick and
wait for about five minutes. Thoroughly rinse with cold water. Press the hair
between the palms to get rid of excess water.
Loosely wrap the hair up
in a towel and get dressed. After dressing, let the hair out of the towel (it
doesn't drip). About an hour later the hair is dry enough at the roots on the
crown of the head so you can start finger picking your hair into some kind of
order. Don't brush the hair until later in the day. When you do brush, first
apply oil with your hands. Dress the hair the way you want it, style being a
personal matter.
